Dragonkin, Part 1: AuroraIt was a quiet, summer morning; the soft sounds of chirping only interrupted by the soft crunch of shoes on the first floor. The sound faded as a young boy stepped into a large grassy clearing. The boy took a deep breath. Daniel loved the forest. The air was always cool and clean, and the tranquil rustles and chirps of the wildlife were always soothing. He turned his brown eyes upwards. Blue skies and a couple small, fluffy clouds were visible through the hole in the forest canopy. When he awoke this morning, he thought it would be terrible to let such a beautiful day go to waste. Daniel asked for permission to go on a hike. After multiple warnings from his mother, she eventually let him leave the house with a packed lunch and a water bottle. A weary smile spread across the boy’s face. His mother could be so overprotective sometimes. She rarely allowed him to do anything on his own, despite him being almost seventeen. Daniel loved his family, but he needed some time to himsDragonkin, Part 1: Aurora by MichaelArchangelus
Nathaniel, Dragon Hunter Pt. 1I wandered the forest for several days, hoping to come across something, anything to eat. I dizzily glanced about, hoping to find some leftover carcass from another predator. The type of animal did not matter at this point; I would eat just about anything.Nathaniel, Dragon Hunter Pt. 1 by MichaelArchangelus
I sprawled out under a nearby oak tree; it was an effort just to walk around at this point. My situation was dismal; I was alone and afraid in the forest, with no idea how to hunt for myself. Just then, a small water droplet fell onto my nose. I looked up to see the sky darkening with heavy rain clouds.
"Great," I mumbled to myself. "That's just perfect."
I miserably waited out the storm under the big oak tree. I was too hungry to move anymore. I was cold, tired, and I missed my mom. The rain poured down on my scaly body. I thought about my mother, and how pathetic I was, and how hungry I felt when my stomach growled again. I tried to sleep, despite being completely saturated at this point.
My mother... I closed my eyes, trying to ho
The Riddler's WoodUlureia trotted silently through the dense woodland which ran parallel to the blighted Barrens, a scorched patch of earth extinguished of shimmering beauty and life through years of magical and conventional warfare. The centaur youth exited her home at the tearful embrace of her sickly mother, who pleaded for her to remain vigilant and safe. It was the war over the Barrens, after all, that took the life of her father and many of her kind. The Riddler's Wood by thwackcrackers
Now, Ulureia was the last vanguard of her bloodline, a single ember of light burning in a dark world. Her ailing mother, who kept to the home while she was away, fell victim to the Goblin Rash; a malignant virus which seeped out of the devastated Barrens. Green rashes and splotches of hideous black marred her figure. Her bones fell feeble and her once vibrant heart seemed to be siphoned by the illness.
Ulureia could only pray for a quick death for her mother. No manner of magic of elixirs could cure this newly bred infection. A wet tear st
